Run like a Winner, Recover like a winner!

(Immediately after the Marathon: Recovery Guide)


If you complete the run, no matter the difficulty, you know you are a Winner. Marathon is all about completing and not competing. So after you finish running, the first few things that come to your mind are, which desert am I going to eat? When will I reach home and sleep? Or Give me food! But of course you must have decided some strategy for your recovery and you can’t wait to rest until your tiredness evaporates. While strategising, as per human psychology-the urge to do as little as possible- may not be your


best choice for recovery. So here are some helpful ways to let go off the tiredness caused due to marathon and get ready for the next!


Just after the Marathon: Do’s.


After marathon, the first-best thing anyone could think of is to celebrate. Celebrate because you did it and you are going to do it again. Grab a water bottle and sip some water after few minutes of completing the run. Talk about the run with your friends and family, enjoy the accomplishment together. Congratulate yourself and your fellow runners. Next thing to be done is to not let your body temperature drop. For that, wrap yourself with Mylar Blanket (a low-bulk blanket made of heat-reflective thin plastic sheeting) or anything similar to it. After that, grab something to eat, something very light, such as banana. After all the run that you have done, your body must be sweaty and exhaust. Take a bath. Get into new, fresh clothes and let yourself relax for a while. This will help you feel fresh and less tired.


These things are to be followed immediately after you complete your run for easy and speedy recovery.
